Here's another photo of
Phillips Packing Company in Cambridge, MD in the 1920's from the
MSA.maryland.gov website & the H. Robins Hollyday Collection at
the Talbot Historical Society, looking roughly southeast.
What's neat about this
photo is that not all of the warehouses were built yet (at the
center, bottom of the photo). Also notice the oil dealership at that
location. They would move further northwest as Phillips expanded.
Also note the wye at the
top right of the photo (just before the main curves off to the left).
The engine service facility can barely be seen in the center of the
wye (next to the main; with what appears to be a concrete wall or a
fence around it (it could also be an ash pit, but it's really hard to
tell).
Eventually, there would
be a spur (with a diamond) across the north leg of the wye to serve
one of Phillips canning warehouses, but it wasn't built at the time
this photo was taken.
